Car ownership in Singapore is very very very expensive.
The Certificate of Entitlement (COE), to own the car for a period of ten years, ranges from S$26,501 to S$54,616 in the latest Tender (Apr 2017, 2nd Tender). Conversion with local bank selling TT rate (1.4050 as at 02 May 2017 05:51:20 PM) that works out to be US$38,872. Majority of the quota allocated are in the CAT A (Cars up to 1600cc and 130bhp) priced at S$51,600. The COE does not include the price itself and other taxes! Typically drivers can be separated into a six major types... Singapore has one of the lowest corporate tax in the world. That's why many big MNC love to come to Singapore to setup branches/ hub or shift their headquarters over here. The corporate tax has been decrease since 2000s. From 2010 onward, tax rate is 17%! That's cheap!
There's even tax exemption for companies! Example for a company with S$800K chargeable income:

Singapore is right next to Malaysia. If Malaysia gotten have any sort of war, Singapore will be affect greatly.
We share a lot of border with Malaysia and we have no where to hide on this tiny island city.
